# How to enable and disable Dictation Box?

This article explains how to enable and disable the Dictation Box. Use the Dictation Box to dictate on sites where Voice In does not work by default. Dictate into the Dictation Box, then copy the text to the target text box without leaving the site.

### Enable the Dictation Box

1\) Click the Voice In icon (microphone icon) to start dictation.

The Voice In page pop-up appears on the page.

**Note:** If you do not see the page pop-up, open the [Voice In Options Page](https://dictanote.co/voicein/options/) and uncheck the "Hide Voice In page pop-up" checkbox.

2\) Click the page pop-up button. A page settings window opens, as shown below.

3\) In the page settings window, select the enable dictation box checkbox. The Dictation Box appears.

### Disable the Dictation Box

Follow the steps above, but in step 3, uncheck the enable dictation box checkbox.

### Use the Dictation Box

To use the Dictation Box, place the cursor in the box and dictate. The Dictation Box is an ordinary text box, so all voice commands work in it.

When you finish, click **Copy** to copy the text to the clipboard. Then paste it into the target text box.

Two voice commands make this easier:

* *copy box* - Copies the contents of the Dictation Box to the clipboard.
* *paste that* - Pastes the contents of the clipboard at the cursor location.
