# Is Voice In HIPAA compliant?

**Voice In has not offered a HIPAA business associate agreement (BAA). Its privacy features should not be taken as confirmation that it is suitable for a HIPAA-regulated workflow.**

## How dictation and AI features handle data

* **Ordinary dictation:** Voice In uses the speech-to-text service provided by Chrome or Edge. Voice In does not send the dictated audio or resulting transcript to Dictanote's servers for transcription. The browser provides the speech recognition service; Voice In does not control it. This is not a claim that audio is processed entirely on your device.
* **AI Transforms:** When you run a Transform, selected text and the transformation instructions are sent to the Voice In service for processing by an AI model.
* **AudioScribe:** This is a separate service that processes recordings and stores notes. See the [AudioScribe privacy information](https://dictanote.co/audioscribe/privacy/).

## Before using patient information

Have your organization's privacy or compliance team assess the specific workflow and any required agreements. Use by other medical professionals does not establish compliance.
